It’s not easy being a football fan. Even Liverpool supporters went through years of pain and anguish during the Roy Hodgson and Brendan Rodgers days, though they are now reaping the rewards of a dynamic new, exciting coach and will most likely obtain their first ever Premier League title at the end of this current campaign. The point is, they suffered before. A lot.

Manchester City fans spent decades watching their beloved side battle it out for mid-table mediocrity in the top-flight – as did supporters of Chelsea – prior to being taken over by multi-billionaire investors in 2008 and 2003 respectively.

Manchester United fans were spoilt for the longest, witnessing their side dominate European football for years and years under the guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson – arguably the best manager in the history of the game. They are currently in disarray and have been since the Scot’s departure in 2013, though, and it is not likely they will return to their former selves for many years to come. It must hurt.

For fans of Arsenal, however, they probably have the most to moan about. The 90s and early-00s were a brilliant period for the Gunners under Arsene Wenger. Silverware galore; that Invincibles season, Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkhamp, O2 shirt sponsorship. It was a joyous time. A time that must now feel like lightyears ago rather than just 15.

This season, things have just gone from bad to worse for the north London club. Manager Unai Emery was sacked a few weeks back after the Gunners endured their worst start to a season since the 1970s, and ex-player Freddie Ljungberg is currently taking charge of first team duties but failing miserably at doing a half-decent job.

On Sunday, Arsenal were thumped 3-0 by a Manchester City side who themselves have been out of sorts this season. Indeed, Pep Guardiola’s men were back to their best at the Emirates but it was largely due to their dismal opponents putting up little in the way of a fight.

Now, Wager have decided that enough is enough. The friend-to-friend betting app are offering a once in a lifetime opportunity for two long-suffering Arsenal fans to escape it all, by winning a luxury retreat to the stunning remote island of St George’s Caye in Belize.

The tiny island is located just eight miles east of capital Belize City, and it’s where time stands still; it has no roads, no cars, no grocery stores and no shopping malls.

The two lucky winners will fly from London via the US and enjoy a blissful football-free trip to paradise, where you’ll be over 5,000 miles away from the continually-disappointing Emirates Stadium; even Granit Xhaka’s wayward shots won’t be able to reach you.

Wager Co-Founder Leo Barnes said:

“It’s fair to say Arsenal have had a turkey of a season, and after Sunday’s embarrassment against Manchester City we thought what better way to provide some relief for Arsenal fans than to offer them the opportunity to get as far away from the Emirates as possible.

“We want to do our bit and give back to those beleaguered Gooners – and St George’s Caye is about as remote as you can get while still being a beautiful place to unwind.”

To be in with a chance of winning this glorious prize, all you have to do is download the Wager app and send a bet to a mate before the end of March, and both of you will be automatically entered for some much needed R&R. Belize-y peasy!
