Reigning Champions League winners Liverpool face a tough assignment in their first group match in Europe’s marquee club event, as Jurgen Klopp’s side make the trip to Serie A side Napoli, who will be aiming to hand the Reds their first defeat of the season.
Liverpool are the 11/8 favourites with BetVictor to kick off their European campaign with a win, but Napoli can’t be ignored at 21/10 with Betfred, while the draw is available at 5/2 with 888Sport.
Sutton says: “Champions Liverpool were beaten in Naples last season by an Insigne goal and their away form in last years group stage was an issue, but Liverpool are in a good place right now and will edge it 2-1.”

As well as a Liverpool victory, Chris Sutton fancies Tottenham Hotspur to beat Olympiakos, while Paris Saint-Germain can get the better of Real Madrid in the feature match of the week. Celtic will head into Thursday’s Europa League clash with Rennes as the 11/4 outsiders with Betfred, but Neil Lennon’s side have shown that they can produce the goods on the European stage, and while Rennes are the 11/10 favourites with bet365, Sutton’s believes his old club could get something from the game.
Sutton says: “Rennes have had a good start to the season taking the scalp of PSG with Cavani, Mbappe and all. Celtic’s away European form has always been an issue, but with Frenchman Odsonne Edouard in great form I think Celtic will Score and draw the game 1-1.”
